Carbon neutral

What is carbon neutral?

"Carbon neutral," also known as "climate neutral," refers to achieving an equal balance between the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere and the amount removed or offset (Source: Yale University.) (See Carbon neutral vs Net zero.)

Why is becoming carbon neutral important?

As the global community grapples with the impacts of climate change, the pursuit of carbon neutrality has become a crucial aspect of broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit global temperature increases. Becoming carbon neutral reflects a commitment to environmental responsibility and the transition to a more sustainable future (Source: ISO).  In the U.S., institutions such as universities, colleges, hospitals, large corporations and government agencies are setting goals to becoming carbon neutral.
